'NSYNC's Justin Timberlake To Play Young Elton In New Clip

11.21.2001

Justin Timberlake just isn't himself these days ... he's Elton John.

The 'NSYNC hottie takes on the role of a younger version of Elton in the piano man's new video for "This Train Don't Stop There Any More."

The '70s-inspired clip is centered on Justin backstage at a concert venue as he performs the song while making his way from the dressing room to the stage. Paul Reubens, the artist formerly known as Pee-wee Herman, also turns up in the video, as the young Elton's manager.

This odd assortment of characters gathered in Los Angeles last weekend to shoot the video under the guidance of director David LaChapelle.

This marks the second time in a row that John has roped someone else into doing his video dirty work. For his first video from Songs From the West Coast, John lined up actor Robert Downey Jr. to lip-synch his way through "I Want Love."

A spokesperson for LaChapelle said that this time around, Timberlake was the first choice for the role, and that he jumped at the chance to act in the video.

Those hoping to see the real Elton John can tune into Fox's "Ally McBeal" on Monday, when the singer will turn up as himself (see "Elton John Goes To 'Ally McBeal' Happy Hour; Bon Jovi May Take Role").
