This is the page where any news will be put up. If
you heard some new news about *N Sync, e-mail me and I
will post it here. You get credit for sending it in,
too!!! Send 'em in soon.
Okay. My brother bought the March 2000 issue of Vibe
Magazine and he told me that there was an article of
*NSYNC in there! I didn't believe him, but he's like,
"I'm serious!" So I take a look and here's what I see:
...In another dispute, boy-toy supergroup 'N Sync
is under attack from -N-SYNC, Inc., a New Jersey-
based self-proclaimed "small African-American" music-
production company. The not-so-famous black company is
suing the oh-so-famous white pop band (as well as it's
former manager Louis J. Pearlman and Zomba
Recording Corporation, parent company of Jive Records)
for trademark infringement and $100 million...
I don't know about y'all, but I think this is ridiculous
and I don't think anything will come of it. =) *NSYNC
has been around for so long and they just now came up
with this lawsuit? Come on!
*MY OPINION!*
Well, the big issue in the news is, of course, the
lawsuit. Here's a summary of the events to date (in my
own words!):
In October, 1999, *NSYNC left Trans Continental Records
and their label, RCA to join up with Jive Records.
*NSYNC apparently broke their contracts between Trans
Con and RCA, so this resulted in a $150 million lawsuit
against *NSYNC by Trans Con owner and founder, Louis J.
Pearlman. The quintet went to court on November 24, 1999
in a battle over the legal rights to the name, "*NSYNC"
and were victorious. The judge advised Pearlman to
settle out of court. Finally, after months of stress
and legal troubles, Pearlman settled with *NSYNC out
of court and will still recieve money from merchandise
and record sales. *NSYNC is free to record with Jive
Records. Their new record, "No Strings Attached" is due
out on March 21, 2000.
