Our Review:
Just when you think the teen-pop bubble's about to burst with the saturated fat of O-Town and 98 Degrees, 'N Sync reminds us why boy bands were put on this earth in the first place: to have a good time. Scuttlebutt beats are the basis of Justin, JC and the rest's Celebrity status as the guys rush their way into hurried two-step and R&B jams, techno trickery and other production gizmology to stay ahead of the rest. Ballads and songs about being famous and defending pop music aren't the guys' strong suits (even if they are $10,000 studded, custom numbers) and they're 'ntelligent enough to know that. So, once the high-falootin' "Pop" and "Celebrity" are out of the way, the Fab Five leave it to tracks like "The Two of Us," "Just Don't Tell Me That" and "See Right Through You" to kick it with a precision that 13-year-old girls will love and others, if only reluctantly, can appreciate.
